Butterfly, a common name applied to the adult butterfly of the
cabbageworm (Pieris rapae).
Wing span: 1 3/4 - 2 1/4 inches (4.5 - 5.8 cm).
Larvae
Caution:The butterfly deposits eggs on
the leaves, on which the larvae feed and grow to maturity. The infested foliage is toxic if eaten
by animals. The larva not only eats the leaves of the plants but also burrows through the
heads.
One of its natural enemies is the yellow jacket wasp.
