Downy Woodpecker (Picoides pubescens)

(Male) shown eating beef suet.

A small black and white woodpecker. Male has a red spot on the back of its head.

A smaller version of the Hairy Woodpecker! Size: 5 3/4 inches.

Male shown, females do not have the red spot.

Similar to downy (above) but its bill is longer and appearance larger overall. Size 7 1/2 inches.

Food: Suet, peanuts, peanut butter, sunflower hearts.
