Thrasher
A North American Song Bird
 |
The common thrasher of the
eastern United States is the brown thrasher (Toxostoma
rufum), which is about 29 cm (about 11.5
in) long. It is chestnut on top, and white with wedge-shaped black spots underneath.
They are
excellent singers and compare with the mockingbird in their ability to mimic birdsongs.
The birds feed on insects and berries, and they nest in thick bushes or vines. |
