Formally known as English Sparrow.The
house sparrow is actually a weaver finch, and in a different family from N.A.
sparrows and they are not protected by federal and state laws.
Introduced into the U.S. in 1850 and within 50
years spread to all parts of U.S. and Canada.
White-Throated
Sparrow (Zonotricha albicollis).
Prominent features -- White throat and striped head pattern.
Breast is light gray, back streaked with brown.
Food: Mixed seeds, sunflower hearts,
black oil sunflower.
